Transgender community to protested against police transphobia following claims S.H.O. Ghazi attacked a transgender function, looted Rs. 1500,000 and sexually harassed two transgender

A newly formed  provincial alliance of transgender called TransAction hold a peaceful protest against police trans-phobia, outside Peshawar Press Club and organized a media briefing.

President of the TransAction Alliance  Farzana told media that S.H.O. Ghazi named Khalid along with his police party attacked a transgender event despite of the fact that Government of Khyber-Pashtunkhwa has issued an NOC for this gathering. They told THE PASHTUN TIMES that the local police officer looted Rs. 1500,00 on a gun point and striped two transgender Paro and Ayesha while hundreds of people have witnessed.

Transgender coming from various district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has assembled outside the Peshawar Press club and chanted slogans against the Police department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and demanded that the DPO Haripur and SHO Ghazi should be dismissed from their jobs for their criminal actions and conducts.

Paro the vice president of the Alliance said that ‘Meanwhile police officers mocked her for her dress and having feminine items in her handbag shouting at her: “You are Whore ! Strip so that every bod can see you what you have got to offer them”. Said Paro while crying at press Club

The members of the Alliance claimed  that police used excessive force and closed down the gathering with out any legal reason. Qamar Naseem a civil society activist who joined the demonstration and media briefing said that “If there was something which was against the law why the police did not arrest the rest of any one. The job of the police is to provide security and no moral policing” he expressed and added that “Trans-phobia still acceptable by PTI led Government which talks about change? Will trans ever be treated as humans and be safe? We are resisting trans-phobia”

Taimur Kamnal of Pakhtunkhwa Civil Society Network that we have reported too many incidents but police doesn’t ready to give heed to understand or respect trans sensibilities that has resulted in the humiliation or abuse of the transgender.

Zar Ali Khan from FATA commission of Human Rights said that “ Govt of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa must ensure that such matters are resolved swiftly and there is a need that the PTI led government takes action . Civil are committed to work with the transgender community till the justice is executed.

The Transgender community while expressed their anger threw away bangles at Peshawar Press Club and said that they are sending these to SHO Ghazi. If the Government of Khyber Pakhtukhwa does not take any action against the SHO Ghazi, who  is involved in the robbery and sexual harassment, then we will block the major roads on April 1st.

Later on, advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Arif Yousaf, assured that he will conveyed the grievences to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
