Peshawar: The 73 years old Khudai Khidmatgars massacre is haunting Jinnah’s Pakistan and its policy makers. Awami National Party (ANP) commemorated the day in various cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan. ANP condemned the undemocratic and fascist act of Jinnah and Qayum Khan. The speakers and participants condemn the ruthless and barbaric role of Pakistani state in killing unarmed Pashtuns in Babarra. Pashtun history in Pakistan repeats itself and state policy is not changing when it comes to the north west region of the country.

Party acting President Haider Khan emphasized on the young generations to keep alive Pashtun heroes while remembering them and their sacrifices. “The current government is the continuation of the then oppressive system and we have to be on our toes to stop these puppets”, Haider Khan told a gathering in Charsadda. “The selected have been badly exposed to the world and nation” he said.

Two days before [12th August 1948] the first independence celebration the state institutions killed more than 600 peaceful Pashtun protesters. Pakistani state keeps this great tragedy intentionally under the carpet and even the media doesn’t give space to such barbaric episodes.

Awami National Party provincial president Aimal Khan in his speech criticized Jinnah and Qayum’s ruthless role particularly in Babarra massacre. “We (Pashtuns) know Qayum Khan of 40s and as well today’s, we know Yazeed of Karbala and Yazeed of today’s. “If any ANP worker disappeared or got harmed, Pakistani state will be responsible and we have decided enough is enough”, Aimal Khan told. “We won’t dump and will never bury our ideology of ‘Lar aw Bar Yaw Afghan’, the Provincial President said.

Khudai Khidmatgars never supported a divided Hindustan and they were Congress allies and were staunch supporters of one country. At the time of division in today’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Khudai Khidmatgars were in rule but Jinnah and Qayum Khan came together and dissolved Dr. Khan Sahib elected government and installed puppet Qayum Khan.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain, General Secretary of ANP also spoke to a huge gathering in Nowshera and shed light on Khudai Khidmatgars struggle in the freedom movement. “Policy of the state doesn’t change but only the methodology”, Iftikhar stated. “Khudai Khidmatgars have left an unbeatable legacy of standing against the cruel”, he told.
